When founder Tyler Amaya was a kid in Mount Vernon, pick-up basketball games were happening at well-kept public playgrounds around town. Kids could learn some basics and hone their skills at virtually no cost. But that’s not the case today.
Learning to play a team sport like basketball teaches physical, mental, and emotional skills. And it’s just plain fun! Our camps, clinics, and other events bring these valuable opportunities for professional coaching to income-restricted kids at no charge.
Our mission is to build community connections and ignite each child’s inner spark, one bucket at a time.
Tyler is a former professional basketball player and accomplished coach who also founded PNW Rain, the premier basketball training program in Northwest Washington. Basketball has transformed his life at several points, carrying him all over the world to play professionally and calling him to create community, connection, and opportunity in his hometown.
After establishing PNW Rain, Tyler felt compelled to give back to his community through the vehicle that gave him so much: Basketball. It is his privilege to honor Ethan by sharing the gifts of basketball.
